At the Sydney Quilt Show 2015, QuiltNSW held a special themed Red & White exhibit and created a spectacular display. A selection of these red and white quilts will be on display at the Australasian Quilt Convention 14-17 April 2016. You can also view all of the red and white quilts from 2015 online in the Red & White Online Gallery

Red & White Special Exhibit Gallery

The 2015 Red and White Special Exhibit attracted over 120 entries.  View the quilts online:

So successful was the Red and White Special Exhibit at this year’s show that the Committee has decided these should be a regular, but not too often, feature of the show. Every three years will the magic number.

What will be the theme for 2018? Put your thinking cap on and email your idea/s to exhibition@quiltersguildnsw.com for a chance to win a free ticket to the 2016 show. Entries must be received by 30 September and the winning theme will be announced at the AGM in October.

Red and White fabric squares needed.

No doubt all members of The Quilters' Guild of NSW Inc. who have an entry in the Red and White Category of the 2015 Sydney Quilt Show will now have a sewing studio awash with  red and white fabric scraps.

Guild member Margy Syrett, in charge of Kids Skills at the SQS, is asking for donations of 3" squares of your R&W scraps for use at this year's quilt show.

This will help carry on the celebration of our special category and help rid you of your "left-overs"!

So, please start cutting, to donate. Kids Skills is always such a popular activity, and difficult to administer without the generosity of fellow guild members.

Squares can be sent to the Guild Office, or brought to the next General Meeting at Burwood, on Saturday 16th May.

Thankyou!

1st Pop-up Sewing Day : Report

Members of The Quilters' Guild of NSW Inc who gathered at Quiltsmith last week for the inaugural Pop- up Sewing Day revelled in the convivial atmosphere that only a group of like minded quilters can fully understand and appreciate.
Passers by may have heard many 'Ooh's and Ahh's' and a fair degree of laughter, emanating from the large workroom that Quiltsmith provided for the 10am - 3pm day of shared wisdoms, sewing and  socialisation.

A number of participants were busily putting final touches to their Sydney Quilt Show entries, and it was a privilege to see in detail several of the 'Red and Whites' being created for this year's Challenge.

Complimentary tea and coffee (and cakes) were much appreciated, and whilst there was a little good-humoured chiding about "it being rigged", the Lucky Door vouchers went to the very delighted Lynette T, and Salley G. There was absolutely no difficulty in 'cashing' these in, as Quiltsmith offers an extensive choice of glorious fabrics and sewing essentials.

4 members of the Management Committee also partook in the fun, and enjoyed talking to several younger members.
If a member can't usually attend the Saturday 'Burwood Meetings' then these Pop-Up days will be a great way to feel part of the Guild.

A big 'Thankyou' to the President Linda Butcher and her committee for organising this event, and to Melinda Smith and Quiltsmith staff for generously offering their premises, and friendly, fabric help . . .
everyone had such a lovely day!

Members, please keep an eye on Template Free - 'the blog', for more information about the next Pop-up Sewing Day.
It will be at Hobbysew, Top Ryde on Friday April 10th, 10am - 3 pm.
A Booking can be made through the Guild Office, now, and again numbers will be limited.

It's always enjoyable to see 'new faces' and new quilts, so do think about attending the next Pop-Up Sewing Day.

Your attendance will be most welcome!

Planning for Red and White 2015

If you are one of these people, we would love to hear from you!  Please complete the easy online form below or at this link: Red & White Notice of Intention.

Submitting the form indicates current intention and is not a firm commitment.  Official entries must be submitted by Friday, 13 March 2015.
