Guild Teacher Accreditation Program
Teacher accreditation is a valuable service provided by the Guild. This is not a training program, but rather recognition of proven skills of present and future teachers. The Guild now offers three programs of teaching accreditation to Guild members:
- Program A - this is the full three-stage program for those people considering teaching, or relatively new to teaching traditional patchwork and quilting. Participants need to demonstrate broad knowledge and good technical skills in the basics of drafting, template making, piecing and applique, quilting and finishing methods. (Application fee $60);
- Program B - this is a fast tracking version of the above program for teachers of traditional quiltmaking and is available to those who have established careers as teachers and those holding accreditation from an interstate Guild. (Application fee $30); and
- Program C - this program is for those teachers who specialise in various advanced techniques used in innovative, art or traditional quiltmaking, without ever teaching the basics of patchwork and quilting. Of course, the work demonstrated should still demonstrate a broad knowledge of basic techniques in assembly and finishing. (Application fee $30.) Award winning quilt artist Kay Haerland was recently accredited under Program C.
