Friday Showcase Roslyn Moules Fri. 7th October

10am- 11.30 am
 QuiltNSW Office
Pitt St Sydney

Roslyn states that:
'I started quilting in 1990 and quickly realised that if I hand sewed and quilted I would never finish anything.  Hence I have been machine oriented.
I joined the Guild in 1991 and entered the 1993 Guild Challenge – ‘October Around the World’ and won Viewer’s Choice.  This inspired me to enter Colours of Australia in 1994 and I was juried into this competition, and as well the following year 'Australia Dreaming-Quilts to Nagoya’.
I find that my particular interest in making a quilt is the planning and design stage and free motion machine quilting,  although after a lesson from Lois French I have developed a love of needle turn hand appliqué.
I started attending Community Quilts in 1992 and loved the mix of ages and freedom to make a quilt from orphan blocks.  In those days there were 3 large boxes of orphan blocks and it was a great challenge to match them altogether.  It was a real learning curve.
After Ruth Carter passed away in 2000  I volunteered to take on the role of co-ordinating Community Quilts.  We standardized the size of the quilts and generally streamlined the process to keep our production going.   I love the challenge of making a quilt using what fabric we have as it forces you to ‘jump out of your box’.
Over the years I  have won three 1st prizes, two 2nd and one 3rd prize at Darling Harbour.   I was made a Life Member of the Guild in 2004 and presented with the National ‘Lut-Da’ Award in 2011 for service to community through quilting.'

All welcome. Members $5.00, Guests $10.00
