Judging Education Program: Call for Expressions of Interest

Judging for the Sydney Quilt Show 2017 will be carried out over two days and involves a large team of volunteers. If you have been curious about quilt judging and would like to learn more, now is your opportunity.

The QuiltNSW Judging Education Program is calling for expressions of interest from QuiltNSW members for a new intake of participants in 2017-2019. The program commences on 26 September 2017 and is made up of 10 core modules designed to develop knowledge and skills across a range quilt judging, jurying and critiquing scenarios. A commitment fee is payable and you must pledge to attend at least 60% of the sessions including contributing to a group research exercise.

See the Judging Education Program EoI page for more information and the expression of interest form.

Free Quilt Judging Service Now Available

Quilt NSW has established a Judging Education Pilot Program (JEPP) to:
  • provide quality training and education to enable the JEPP participants to evaluate quilts in any local, regional, national or guild show; and
  • provide and actively promote a judging service for the benefit of members and member groups of the Quilters Guild of NSW Inc.
This free service is currently available in the greater Sydney metropolitan area including the Central Coast, Wollongong and the Blue Mountains. (Boundaries may be expanded in the future.)

The judges provide a professional and impartial judging service and work within the parameters of the criteria set by the quilt show or challenge co-ordinators.

Call for Textile Art for Judging Exercise

The Judging Education Pilot Program subcommittee of The Quilters' Guild of NSW Inc invites Australian-based textile artists to submit their artwork for consideration to be used in a mock judging exercise in Sydney on 3 August 2015.  Please complete the online Expression of Interest Form by 22 July to register your interest.

If your work is selected, you will be required to deliver it at your expense by mail, or to collection points in Caringbah or Birkenhead, by Thursday 30 July 2015.  Your participation will assist JEPP trainees in developing their art quilt judging skills and knowledge. In return, you will receive written feedback on your artwork highlighting successful elements and areas for improvement.

The Guild will pay for the cost of returning your artwork to you by registered mail but is not liable for any loss or damage to the works however such loss or damage is caused.  (If you wish to insure your artwork, please make your own arrangements.)
