Friday Showcase - 2 March 2018

The Elephant Quilt
Anne Blythman is the guest presenter for our March Friday Showcase.

Anne’s quilting journey began in Australia’s West in the mid 1980s and has travelled a long path since she was first ‘hooked’ on Flying Geese back then.  Today Anne is a member of Illawarra Quilters, where her skills have extended to teaching, notably Sashiko and reverse log cabin quilts.  The majority of Anne’s quilts are hand stitched, but all are finished with her own exquisite hand quilting.

Friday Showcase is held on the first Friday of most months at our QuiltNSW office, 276 Pitt Street, Sydney, close to Town Hall Station.  Anne's presentation this Friday, March 2nd, starts at 10am, with an entrance fee of $5 for members and $10 for guests.

The closing date for entries is 11.59pm Monday 12 March 2018.

We encourage you to use the ONLINE ENTRY FORM as it streamlines the payment and data collection process and allows our volunteers to better administer entries. Pay by credit card through our secure ANZ portal and you’ll receive immediate email confirmation of your entry on payment. To help your use of this form, we've modified the secure payment process so if you had any problems in 2017, we have hopefully fixed them.

Use the Worksheet to plan your online entry. Please only submit the worksheet as a paper entry form if you do not have access to the online entry and payment process.  Remember to clearly nominate your preferred entry as Quilt #1 as priority will be given to first choice quilts if needed (see Conditions 1-5).

Prepare your entry early so that you know that it will be received by the closing date Monday 12 March 2018
To conserve resources, the entry form package will NOT be distributed in the February issue of The Template. You may contact the QuiltNSW office and request that a paper copy be mailed to you.

Quilt Study Group 2018: Talk by Deborah Louie

The first 2018 Quilt Study Group of NSW meeting will take place on the 10th of February at The Glover Cottages, 124 Kent Street in Millers Point. Deborah Louie will talk about the new directions her quilting career has taken. Many of us have taken her classes in beginner and free-motion quilting in the past and know about her sponsorship by Bernina sewing machines, but now Deborah is using a new teaching technique fit for today’s busy world.

After an overview of her method of teaching machine quilting, Deborah will talk about the new quilt patterns she teaches and why she decided to change things all around and move into the cyber teaching world. We will hear about the logistics of running online classes - how and what she does.
Deborah will of course have plenty of quilts and images to illustrate her talk.

Please encourage everyone you know who is interested in quilting to come along to the Quilt Study Group of NSW talks. The Glover Cottages is a beautiful light-filled venue for the talks and it is an easy walk through The Rocks area from either Wynyard or Circular Quay train stations. Quilt NSW guild members pay $5, non-guild members pay $10. Afternoon tea is provided and the talks start at 2pm. Check the Quilt NSW website or the latest Template Newsletters for more details.
