Away Meeting at Tumbarumba - Saturday 14 April

The "Away Meeting" in 2007 will be at the Tumbarumba Golf Club in southern New South Wales this Saturday afternoon, 14 April 2007. Reknown applique artist, Val Moore, is the guest speaker and all members are welcome to attend.

Sydney members travelling to Tumbarumba by coach will take in many attractions en route including visits with Gundagai Quilters and Adelong Quilters and an excursion to the Pioneer Women's Hut - home of the National Quilt Register.

Meanwhile, if you are heading off to the Sydney Royal Easter Show at Homebush this week, please sure to say hello to the Guild team that is demonstrating patchwork and quilting near the craft displays.

Well the NSW quilters meeting at Tumbarumba yesterday was fantastic.
Drove up with three friends and we all had a wonderful time.

Yummy lunch at the bakery in the main street got us off to a good start. Then on to the Golf Club for the meeting, must have been well over 100 ladies there. Had a chat to ladies from Batlow, Tumbarumba, Gundagai, Sydney and even Central Coast. I love chatting to different people at things like this.

Show and tell was wonderful with quilts of all types and heaps of applique. Maybe that was influenced by the presence of Val Moore who gave a talk on her work illustrated with lots of her beautiful quilts. We even got to see her first quilt. She is a lovely lady. Afternoon tea was spectacular a really great spread. The day went so fast. Well done to the organisers and many thanks to the NSW Quilters Guild for coming to the country to visit.

We loved being there. What a greatly talented lot of quilters exist around southern NSW. We had a wonderful weekend overall!
